First Win For Frank Heavens

Adelaide, September 18 – Opening his account with a stylish win at Morphettville on Wednesday was improving three year-old Frank Heavens, a $150,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the draft of Mill Park.

Gelded after two runs as a juvenile when not beaten far behind stakes horses Get the Nod and London Lolly, Frank Heavens appreciated the step up to 1550 metres to dash clear and win by more than two lengths.

Prepared by Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, Frank Heavens is by Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown (USA) from well related Carnegie (IRE) mare Heaven Instead, an unraced daughter of Melbourne Cup winner Jezabeel.

Heaven Instead was bought for the Southern Thoroughbreds Breeding Syndicate by Adrian Hancock for $90,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale from the Strawberry Hill draft.
Frank Heavens is the second winner for Heaven Instead, who has a yearling colt by Authorized (IRE) and was covered again by Big Brown last spring.
